Checkpoint exams provide an international standard and benchmark for CIS Russia to work towards.

It allows us to compare ourselves with schools around the world, and ensure that we are providing the best education possible in the key subject areas of English, Mathematics and Science. These exams also prepare pupils both for Lower Secondary School, and for Upper Secondary School (IGCSE) studies. What if we are sick on the day?

If a pupil is sick and misses an exam for Checkpoints, there is one allocated day when any missed exams may be completed, however pupils will only be allowed to take an exam in this time slot with written permission from the appropriate Head Teacher and upon presentation of a Doctor’s certificate. If these are not presented, then your child will not be allowed to take any missed exams. This is in line with CAIE’s official guidelines. How will the results be released and what do they mean? Results are not released online. They can only be accessed in physical paper form, from the Exams Office/Head Teacher on or after the 1 st of September following the exams.

Exams are marked on a scale between 0.0 and 6.0, with 3.0 being an average and acceptable result. Anything below this is cause for concern, and anything above is to be celebrated. It is possible to achieve a perfect 6.0 in Checkpoint exams and several pupils have done so in the past. Can they be retaken? Simply put, no. Checkpoint examinations cannot be retaken for a better result without resitting the entire academic year. Should you have any questions, please consult the appropriate Head Teacher who can offer specific advice and guidance.
